The Typhoon is a robotic case palletizer system which combines non-robotic layer-forming technology with a robotic palletizer to transfer and stack a full layer of product at a time using a roller curtain.

This hybrid palletizing system maximizes the utilization of the robot, achieving very high production rates and offering extreme versatility within a small footprint.

The Typhoon Robotic Case Palletizer performs multiple tasks simultaneously, forming rows and layers while the robot transfers and stacks formed layers to the pallet.

As one of the fastest low-level palletizers available, the Typhoon handles up to five layers or more per minute. The Typhoon can be designed with multiple infeeds to handle a wide number of different products simultaneously.

Up to four levels of layer-forming can be stacked one above the other, which enables up to four separate layers to be formed simultaneously to quadruple production speeds while maintaining gentle product handling and conserving floor space. Furthermore, the palletizer can load from both sides, which allows two single-level or two multiple-level layer-forming modules to feed the palletizer. The Typhoon can produce rainbow pallets of mixed product as well as one-product pallets.

The system can incorporate a multi-pallet rotary turntable or shuttle car, which allows the palletizer to load multiple SKU products onto two to eight pallets at a time. The system can insert tier sheets and slip sheets and can pick up pallets. Unlike full layer robotic palletizers that utilize vacuum or clamp end-effectors, Priority One’s, a division of Busse/SJI, Typhoon Robotic Case Palletizers utilize a roller curtain that supports product from underneath at all times.

This gentle form of product handling allows the system to effectively palletize display packs, shrink-wrapped bundles and trays, cases, cartons, and crates. Unlike case-picking robotic palletizers, the Typhoon squares each layer from all four sides to produce a tight load that is more stable during

subsequent warehouse handling and transportation. The Typhoon palletizer eases and speeds product changeovers because no end-of-arm tool (EOAT) changes are required for product changes. Programming changes are handled automatically via the system’s integration with the plant-wide network
